This is Not a CLAW on November 12, 2010

CLAW is dead, long live CLAW! Rumor has it that there won’t be a CLAW on Nov. 12th, 2010, behind the Blue Moon Diner, but you should check it out for yourself. And bring $5 cover in cash at the very least. Proceeds go to support The Women’s Initiative, a local organization that works to provide effective counseling services, social support and education to empower women to transform challenging life situations into opportunities for renewed well-being and personal growth.

Get A Grip
Oct 13, 2010

By Kristin Coronado

by Kris Coronado

It’s unclear whether creativity or whimsy was running wilder between exercise pals Jennifer Hoyt Tidwell and Jodie Plaisance that November day in 2007, but what resulted was anything but monotonous.

They invented a fantasy sports league in which outrageously dressed, bawdy femmes challenge each other to arm-wrestling matches. Then they dumped the fantasy part.

“Soon I started asking people, ‘Would you join an arm-wrestling league if you could?’ ” Hoyt Tidwell, 37, says with a laugh. “I was half-kidding.”
